It seems we live in really great times and we live in awful times when we look at the opportunities and the challenges of our economy. When I think of the economy, I think of a line from Charles Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities: “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…” The dichotomy makes it appropriate to ask, “Is now the time to activate the entrepreneur in you?”
In 2015, there were millions of Americans who were caught in the recession – downsized, laid off – whatever you want to call it – the result was that they lost their jobs and for many, the recovery is still going on. For them, it remained the worst of times. Others found different jobs; maybe not in their chosen carer field, but a job nonetheless. Still others chose to reinvent themselves; chose to follow a dream; chose to follow a different path. For them, it is the best of times.
It takes guts and stamina along with a willingness to take risks when you decide to become an entrepreneur, choose to follow that dream.
To decide you will be at the helm of making your life truly reflect who you are, with a vision and goals that support you, is what being an entrepreneurship is all about.
Home-based businesses make up 52% of the businesses, with sole proprietors leading the way with 72.1% of the shares, this according to 2012 statistics found at SBA office of Advocacy. They chose to follow their vision and activated their entrepreneurial spirit.
The question is always whether the time is right for you to activate the entrepreneur in you. Will you listen to the voice that tells you it is? The time showed itself to be right for starting my own. I listened and established my Christian design apparel out of a need to have my own and out of a desire to spread the Word.
The Bible teaches us that there is a time for everything. The teachings of Ecclesiastes points to this quite clearly. Verses admonish us to take advantage to the time we are given and to take action. Ecclesiastes 5:19 reads “…enjoy your work and accept your lot in life – this is indeed a gift from God.” The idea is that you follow your dreams and act on them or you will always be chasing dreams and feeling unfulfilled.
The time is now for following your dreams and fulfilling your vision. “… Just dreaming about nice things is meaningless – like chasing the wind.” Ecclesiastes 6:9.
Are you following your dream? Is your career fulfilling? Have you activated a long term dream? There is no better time than the present.
Please leave a comment. Let me know if you have activated your vision and dreams. Until next time, continue to take steps of excellency and you will leave behind a trail of greatness.
