8/26/2016 0 Comments Back to School, back to business. Now that the kids are back to school, you can focus more on your business (that is at least for the few hours that they are away). I want to provide you with four tips to make your time most effective. 1. Set a small and manageable to do list before you begin your day. I would not recommend more than 3-5 big items. These are things that MUST be done that day. The reason I recommend 3-5 because I want you to be able to accomplish them. Sometimes we can put so much on our plates because we have the superwoman cape on but we need to get realistic. Things happen all the time that interrupt our day or pull us away, so if the list is "small" or "manageable" then we gain a sense of accomplishment when we complete our to do list. 2. Breathe. Like I said before, things come and interrupt our day. They require our immediate attention. Some interruptions can be welcoming, while others are stressful. Stress can be debilitating in your Christian walk. James 1:2-4 states Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. Interruptions are going to happen but how you handle it, is up to you. So BREATHE. 3. Limit unnecessary distractions. Interruptions do happen but some times the interruptions are unnecessary. A call from the school, stating that your child is sick and needs to be picked up is a necessary distraction. On the other hand, entertaining a phone call from your best friend about the latest gossip is something that is very unnecessary. Try placing your phone on do not disturb and only allow important phone call through such as the school or work. If you get frequent calls from your friend, let them know you have something important to focus on so please do not call you within a certain time. Whatever it may be, find something that works for you and get focus. 4. Work. Have you ever been on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.,) or handling personal business while at work? If so, you should be able to relate. You were at work but not working. We are all guilty of this. But now let's focus. While we are working on our business, we are going to be working. We're not going to be on social media or doing anything unrelated to work. "Work while at work!"
